Pope Francis sends message as Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew receives Honorary Doctorate

His Holiness Pope Francis sent a message on Monday, October 27, 2015 on the occasion of the conferral of an honorary doctorate to His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople. The Honorary Doctorate in the Culture of Unity was granted to the Ecumenical Patriarch by the Sophia University Institute "for his service to the unity of the human family." Full Text

Order of Saint Andrew to launch new Social Media Initiative

The Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle and the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate are pleased to announce the launch of a new social media initiative to be funded by the generous contribution of Archon Michael G. Psaros. The initiative seeks to assist the Order in its mission of promoting religious freedom for the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and freedom of worship for all religious minorities in the Republic of Turkey in which the Ecumenical Patriarchate is located. The death of Europe is in sight. Still hazy and not yet inevitable, but nevertheless visible and drawing nearer—like a distant planet in the lens of an approaching satellite. Europe is reaching its end not because of its sclerotic economy, or stagnant demography, or the dysfunctions of the superstate. Archons represented at annual OSCE Conference in Warsaw

Archons Constantine Caras and Stamatios Kartalopoulos represented the Order at the 2015 Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Meeting in Warsaw, Poland. Archons Caras and Kartalopoulos had a private meeting with the State Department delegation of the United States and provided them with the most current information regarding the status of our Ecumenical Patriarchate in Turkey, the major issues of which we are all aware, the most recent developments and current documents of the Order. Al-Monitor reports on 'For Turkey’s Greek minority, an island school provides fresh hope'

On Sept. 28, Turkish newspapers reported that a Greek school was reopened after four decades on the Aegean island of Gokceada, known as Imbros in Greek. In reality, however, the school was reopened after 51 years. Moreover, the closure of Gokceada’s Greek schools in 1964 was not because they ran out of students, as the reports said, but because the Turkish state had shut them down. Full Text
