For the first time in 22 years, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will not preside over Holy Week and Pascha services at the Patriarchal Church of St. George at the Phanar. Instead, he will be on his native island of Imvros, where he will preside over services in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Imvros and in his home village of Sts. Theodores. He will be assisted by Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imvros and Tenedos as well as Metropolitan Athenagoras of Kydonies. Full Text

Archon Congressman Gus M. Bilirakis (R-FL) and Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues, introduced H.Res. 188, calling on the government of Turkey to reopen the Ecumenical Patriarchate's Theological School of Halki without conditions or further delays. This resolution was first introduced in the 112th Congress and passed through the House Foreign Affairs Committee with unanimous consent. Full Text

On Sunday, April 21, 2013, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for an hour-long visit at the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Among those in attendance during the meeting were His Eminence Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey, His Excellency Ambassador Francis J. Ricciardone, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, the Hon.
