U.S. State Legislatures continue to pass Religious Freedom resolutions for the Ecumenical Patriarchate

In 2006, the National Council of the Order of St. Andrew initiated the Religious Freedom Resolutions project. The goal of this project, which represents one component of the overall, multi-faceted Religious Freedom Initiative, is the adoption of religious freedom resolutions in support of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in every state legislature. Archons conduct Lenten Retreat at St. Basil's Academy

This year marked the fifth annual retreat which focused on "Spiritual Renewal" and provided Archons and their spouses an opportunity to study in greater detail the theological meaning of Holy Scripture and to participate in discussion with retreat-master, His Grace Bishop Savas of Troas, chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in America. OCF Team renovates Church, explores Religious Freedom during 'Real Break' to Ecumenical Patriarchate

Fourteen Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) students, from multiple jurisdictions, recently returned from their 'Real Break' trip to Istanbul and historic visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The trip was planned in cooperation with The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, who graciously provided all of the funding for the equipment and supplies. Forum 18 News Service reports on "Turkey: What difference does the latest Foundations Law make?"

The news service, Forum 18, recently reported on the newly-revised Foundations Law which the Turkish Parliament has passed. Originally adopted by Parliament in 2006 under heavy pressure from the European Union, the law returns properties confiscated by the state to non-Muslim religious minority foundations and also allow these foundations to receive financial aid from foreign countries. U.S. Report on Human Rights Practices reveals concern on Turkey's progress of religious freedom

Serious problems remain in the Turkish government to secure religious freedom for non-Muslim minorities. This was revealed in the 2007 Country Report, issued by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. Full Text
