Fourth Annual Archon National Lenten Retreat A Spiritual Success

Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in America convened their fourth annual National Archon Lenten Retreat at the headquarters of Ukranian Orthodox Church of the USA in Somerset, New Jersey on March 9 and 10. The European Court of Human Rights, by virtue of a ruling, has ordered the Turkish state to return to the Megali tou Genous Scholi (Great School of the Nation) in Istanbul property seized in 1974, the board of directors of the charitable ethnic Greek foundation that runs the school said on Tuesday Full Text


U.S. Senate Urges President Bush to Prevent Extinction of Christian Church Spiritual Headquarters

73 U.S. Senators signed a letter to President George W. Bush expressing "deep concern that policies of the Turkish government pose a grave threat to the future of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the spiritual home of the world's second largest Christian Church - Orthodox Christianity. The Senators call this "a religious tragedy of historic magnitude." The President receives approximately five letters a year with this level of Senate support," said Limberakis. Full Text
