Archons Condemn Demonstrations at Phanar and Issue Formal Protests

In response to ugly demonstrations by ultra nationalist Turks known as the Grey Wolves that took place at the Ecumenical Patriarchate last Thursday, October 27th, the National Commander Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis issued formal letters of protest and condemnation to the President of the United States, the Secretary of State and the Turkish Ambassador to the United States. Dr. Limberakis also called the US Embassy in Ankara to express the outrage of the Order of St. Andrew regarding these hateful demonstrations and asked the staff to convey these sentiments to the new U.S. Ambassador-Designate Ross Wilson. Athenagoras Humanitarian Award to Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mikhail Gorbachev

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and former President of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev was the recipient of the Athenagoras Humanitarian Award of the Order of St. Andrew Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in an emotion filled evening, Saturday, October 22, at the New York Hilton. The Award was presented by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in the United States and the official representative of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the spiritual head of the world’s 250 million Orthodox faithful. Archon Leaders Hold Strategy Meetings in Washington

The leaders of America's effort to bring religious freedom to the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul, Turkey planned strategy in Washington, D.C this week with the leaders of the Archon's "Religious Freedom Project"-Dr. Anthony Limberakis, Father Alex Karloutsos, and Andy Manatos, who are respectively the National Commander, spiritual advisor and Washington coordinator for the 700 member-strong Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of the Order of St. Andrew. Archons Urge Immediate Action to Prevent Extinction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate

At an assembly held at Holy Trinity Church, members of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle/Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul addressed the critical situation facing the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Orthodox Christian community in Turkey and planned a course of action with U.S. Rep. Robert Menendez (D-13th NJ). The hope is that since Turkey will begin negotiating on October 3 to join the European Union, the EU will have the power to compel Turkey to reform its ways as a condition of membership. Full Text
