Greek Independence Day Parade to be televised and streamed live, April 7 at 2pm

National Council member Archon John A. Catsimatidis, the Order’s Religious Freedom Chairman and Parade Chairman Emeritus, along with National Vice Commander Nicholas J. Bouras are making possible the broadcast of the 2013 Annual Greek Independence Day Parade, organized by the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York. The parade will be televised live in metropolitan New York City on Channel 9 WWOR TV, anchored by Archon Ernie Anastos, and also streamed on the internet on:

In addition to the Parade itself, there will be televised segments with Archbishop Demetrios of America, Exarch of the Ecumencial Patriarchate and a religious freedom presentation by National Commander Anthony J. Limberakis, M.D.

The Greek Independence Day Parade will take place on New York’s famed Fifth Avenue, starting at 64th Street and continuing to 79th Street on Sunday, April 7, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The Greek Independence Day Parade, an annual celebration of Hellenic identity, is celebrated annually in Greece on March 25, commemorating the start of the War of Greek Independence in 1821 from the Ottoman Empire.

The Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York represents a large number of Greek societies, fraternities and local organizations. Founded in 1937, the Federation is the largest and the oldest federation in America.
