Preserving and Protecting the Guiding Light of the Phanar: A message of appreciation from the National Commander for Christmas 2009

The Star of the Nativity above marks the actual sacred site of the birthplace of our Lord and Savior in Bethlehem witnessed by the participants of the 2009 Historic Archon Pilgirmage to Cappadocia, the Holy Land, and Mt Sinai.

During this Advent Season, I wish to express my profound appreciation for the time devoted, talents offered, and treasure given to support the Sacred See of Constantinople. The riveting documentary of His All Holiness on 60 Minutes, the 10 year anniversary of Archbishop Demetrios as Exarch and his remarkable ministry in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the spiritual guidance of our Metropolitans, and our brother Archons and their wives who continue to serve the Holy and Great Mother Church fighting for religious freedom here in America and abroad, are extraordinary gifts for all to behold.

As we enter the New Year 2010 let us recommit ourselves as Defenders of the Faith, consonant with our Patriarchal Offikia in support of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church whose guiding light shines brilliantly from the Phanar under the spiritual leadership of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

Let all people of goodwill rejoice in the Birth of our Lord and Savior!

In the Service of the Ecumenical Patriarchate,

Anthony J. Limberakis, MD
