Religious Freedom Symposium to be held in Colorado, Sep 17

With the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver, the Archons of the Order of Saint Andrew’s Tenth District Colorado region, will be hosting its first ever symposium entitled, “Religious Freedom.”  The symposium will be held at the Assumption of the Theotokos Cathedral in Denver, Saturday, September 17, 2011.

Anthony J. Limberakis, M.D., National Commander of the Order of Saint Andrew, will be the guest speaker.

The Order of Saint Andrew continues to fight for religious freedom for the Holy See of Constantinople, the Ecumenical Patriarchate.  National Commander Limberakis will offer updates on the very latest developments from recent meetings with government officials and religious leaders from Turkey and other countries.  The five core issues facing our Patriarchate will also be discussed:

1: Government Interference in Patriarchal Elections

2: Non-Recognition of “Ecumenical” Status

3: No Legal Identity

4: Closing of Seminary and Inability to Train New Clergy

5: Confiscation of Property

The symposium, moderated by Dr. Gregory G. Papadeas, Regional Commander, stated, “This symposium will provide an opportunity to bring together many committed members of our church for a weekend of education, edification and fellowship.”

The symposium is open to all members of the community.  Members of the Order of Saint Andrew, Denver Metropolis Council, and Philoptochos board members are among the many who plan on attending this educational event.
